Coombs of Guildford prepared their own cars for use in competition as well as modifying new and secondhand cars to individual customer specification.
From my research I have listed below cars that are known to be genuine modified cars both Mk1 and Mk2.

Mrs Wilson of Shipley was the first owner and kept the car after the death of her husband. In 1989 Robin Colvill of "Grumbleweed" comedy band persuaded her to sell the car to him. |

John Coombs also had three or four 3.8 Litre Mk2s raced by his team with the registration numbers BUY1 and BUY12.
His racing colours were Pearl Grey.
John Coombs also modified an S Type 3.8 during the mid 1960s and it was finished in Metallic Dark Green.
